Toronto Urban Fellows:
  • Acquire significant professional experience with Canada’s largest municipal government.

  • Participate in a year-long series of seminars, workshops and tours, specifically designed to meet the learning goals of talented early-career professionals with a passion for public service and the City of Toronto.

  • Receive direct supervision and coaching from host division assignment Project Guides as well as support and mentoring from Toronto Urban Fellows program coordinators.

  • Earn a taxable salary of $64,009 and are eligible for health care benefits after six months.

Urban Fellows are not guaranteed employment with the City of Toronto upon completion of the program. However, program participants who perform well will be strongly encouraged to apply for relevant vacancies.

 
    Professional Development  
   


To provide broader exposure to the City of Toronto’s governance system, administration and policy landscape, Toronto Urban Fellows participate in a year-long Learning Series consisting of seminars, workshops and tours. At these sessions, Urban Fellows meet with senior government officials, community champions, business leaders and academics who are passionate about Toronto and working hard to shape its future.

  • City Planning: Reflections, Projections and Key Initiatives
  • Governing in the Fishbowl: Communications and Media Relations at Toronto City Hall
