What is stormwater?

Did you know that in addition to providing quality drinking water and treating wastewater, Toronto Water also helps deal with rain water and melted snow? It may not seem as important as drinking water and wastewater treatment, but managing stormwater is essential to improving the health of our waterways and reducing basement flooding.

In 2008, the City of Toronto launched the Don River and Central Waterfront Project - a study to improve water quality in the Don River and Central Waterfront, which are among the most degraded waterways in the City.
