Water filtration devices

You hear a lot about water filters but do you really need one?

Most water filtration devices are designed for use on water that is already safe to drink because the City has cleaned and treated it. Our water quality tests confirm that the tap water is safe to drink straight from the tap.

If you choose to buy a water filtration device, keep the following thoughts in mind:

  • Different devices are designed for different purposes. For example, some devices are designed to remove residual chlorine. Before buying a device, know what you want to remove from the water and buy a device that has been designed to remove it.
  • Keep in mind too that if a home treatment device is poorly designed, used improperly or if inadequately maintained, it can damage the quality of your tap water. A home treatment device can provide a breeding ground for bacteria, or even release chemicals into the water.
  • So look for devices that are NSF certified. The NSF International has the toughest standards and tests more products than any other company.
