Water Treatment & Supply facilities
Safe, clean drinking water is a vital resource for everyone who lives, works in and visits Toronto. To ensure an uninterrupted supply, Toronto Water staff manage four water treatment plants plus pumping stations, reservoirs, tanks and water mains. Their collective aim is to distribute superior quality water to the community in a reliable, cost-effective and environmentally sound manner.
Toronto's treatment process meets or exceeds all standards set for drinking water by the provincial and federal environmental ministries.
Three of the four water treatment plants are spread along the lakeshore and one is located on Centre Island.

Water Supply, the fifth member of Water Treatment & Supply, has three main functions – the pumping, transmission and storage of water. Water Supply is responsible for a city-wide system of staffed and un-staffed pumping stations, underground reservoirs, elevated tanks and hundreds of kilometres of trunk water mains.
