Anaerobic digestion stabilizes the biodegradable solids that are removed from the Primary Treatment process.
Highland Creek's four digestors:
- generate methane gas, which can be used by the plant for process and space heating requirements
- reduce solids volume by as much as 40%
- destroy pathogens in the sludge
- minimize sludge odour
