City-selected Water Efficient Toilet List Requirements

New Toilet Submission
Note: Manufacturers and Industry Representatives only.

All toilets eligible for an incentive from the City of Toronto are required to meet the UNAR standard and be listed on the UNAR list as published at Alliance for Water Efficiency.

Toilet manufacturers are no longer required to submit MaP test reports and CSA certificates to the City. Instead, all toilets on the UNAR list are automatically accepted by the City of Toronto Toilet Rebate program.

Only the exact version of the toilet shown on the UNAR list can be approved for the rebate. For example if only the round front version of a toilet model appears on the list, the elongated version, ADA version, comfort height version, etc will not be approved. The only exception is the tank insulation and toilet colour: both lined and unlined tank versions of the tested toilet are acceptable, as are all colours regardless of which colour toilet was actually tested.

To ensure that the City applies rebates to all UNAR-certified toilets, manufacturers should complete a toilet information spreadsheet showing UPC/ SKU codes for each model tested, including the different model numbers for lined/unlined and coloured versions.
