Project
receives environmental approval
The St. Clair project received environmental approval from the Minister
of the Environment on June 3, 2005.
Background
On June 3rd, 2005 the Minister of the Environment issued a letter
to the City of Toronto and the Toronto Transit Commission. It advised
of the Minister's decision not to grant four part-two order requests
(bump-up requests). The Minister's decision allows the City to proceed
to construction of the St. Clair Avenue West dedicated streetcar
right-of-way.

Transit
Community Liaison Committee (TCLC) formed
In response to
the Minister's letter, the City of Toronto and the Toronto Transit
Commission recently established a St. Clair Avenue West Transit
Community Liaison Committee (TCLC). The purpose of the Committee
is to facilitate communication between the City, the TTC and the
community; to discuss the project's design detail, implementation
and construction; and to comment on the project's design, construction
and operations.
Members
Invitations
to join the TCLC were accepted by John Sewell, Margaret Smith, David
Keith and Howard Levine. Membership will also include five area
property residents and representatives from the five Business Improvement
Associations along the St. Clair Avenue West corridor. |
