St. Clair West EA - Study phases


This environmental assessment has been completed. The following information is provided for archival purposes.


Phase 3 Public Meetings - June 21 and 23, 2004
Two public meetings were held on the St. Clair Avenue West Transit Improvements Class Environmental Assessment (EA). The meetings provided the public with the opportunity to comment on the preferred Alternative #6, which recommends a Streetcar Right of Way for St. Clair Avenue West. In addition the public had the opportunity to look at proposed street scaping and design alternatives.

The presentation material from the previous public meetings as well as the meeting summary are available for download:

  • During the week of June 14, 2004, the third newsletter was mailed out to over 50,000 residents and businesses in the St. Clair Ave. West area. The newsletter informed the public of the Phase 3 public meetings and provided an update on the status of the Class EA study. The newsletter was fully translated into Italian and Portugese.

Phase 2b public meetings - April 13 and 14, 2004
Two public meetings were held in April 2004 during Phase 2b of the study. At the meetings the public were provided with an update on the progress of the study, details on the assessment and evaluation of alternative solutions, and those being carried forward to the next stage of the study process (alternative design concepts). Approximately 450 individuals attended the Phase 2b public meetings held on the evenings of April 13 at the at the Holy Rosary Parish Centre and April 14 at the J.J. Piccininni Community Recreation Centre.

During the week of April 5, 2004, a newsletter was mailed out to over 50,000 residents and businesses in the St. Clair Ave. West area. The newsletter informed the public of the Phase 2B public meetings and provided an update on the status of the Class EA study.

Phase 2a public meetings - February 2004
Two public meetings were held in February 2004 during Phase 2 of the study to discuss the evaluation methodology, evaluation criteria, and alternatives under consideration for the Class EA study. Over 450 individuals attended the Phase 2 public meetings held on the evenings of February 17 and 19 at the Holy Rosary Parish Centre and the J.J. Piccininni Community Recreation Centre respectively.

Phase 2 community workshop - January 2004
On the evening of January 26, 2004, a community workshop was held at the Timothy Eaton Memorial Church. Approximately 50 individuals representing Business Improvement Associations, Residents’ Ratepayer Associations, and other community groups from the St. Clair Ave. West area participated in the workshop to discuss the evaluation criteria and the alternatives for the Class EA study.

Phase 1 public meetings - October 2003
Two public meetings were held in October 2003 during Phase 1 of the study. Over 280 individuals attended the Phase 1 public meetings held on the evenings of October 16th and 21st at the J.J. Piccininni Community Recreation Centre and the Brown Community Centre respectively.
