As of
Monday, November 29, streetcar service on the Carlton route has
resumed regular routing to the community and local businesses on
College and Carlton Streets between Ossington Avenue in the west
and Parliament Street in the east
With
completion of the final phase of track work fast approaching and
related roadway work on College and Carlton Streets, streetcar service
will roll on a completely reconstructed streetcar line along the
length of the Carlton route. Earlier this year streetcar service
resumed on Gerrard Street East between Parliament Street and Coxwell
Avenue after similar track reconstruction.

Web site. Here you will find regularly updated information about
the project. In addition, watch your mail for further construction
details.

Throughout
2004, the City of Toronto Works and Emergency Services (WES) Department
and the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will be replacing the entire
stretch of the 506 Carlton Streetcar route along College Street,
Carlton Street and Gerrard Street.
The 506 Carlton
route is over ten kilometres long and brings many challenges. To
best serve your community, track and accompanying street work will
occur in eight phases between February to December. During each
phase of construction the 506 Carlton streetcar service will be
re-routed.
The streetcar
track reconstruction schedule is:

29, 2004 to mid-May - College Street (Crawford to Sheridan)
- April
12, 2004 to late-May - College Street (Crawford to Bathurst)
- May
24, 2004 to mid-July
- Gerrard Street East (Coxwell to Jones)
- May
17, 2004 to early-July- Gerrard Street East (Broadview to
Jones)
- June to
November - College Street (Bathurst to Spadina)
- July to
October
- College/Carlton Streets (Bay to Jarvis)
- July to
November - Carlton/Gerrard Streets (Broadview to Jarvis)
- September
to November - College Street (Spadina to Bay)

unforeseen events. Specific timelines will be provided in the mail
and on this Web site prior to each individual project.
Preliminary
work: TTC rail welding & storage
Before each segment of streetcar track reconstruction the TTC will
undertake the preliminary work of rail welding and rail storage.

Watermain
reconstruction
Prior to the streetcar track reconstruction, the City of Toronto
will reconstruct sections of the watermains under Gerrard, Carlton
and College Streets. The watermains are being replaced to maintain
