Toronto Amber Alert Program

Toronto Amber Alert Program
A Toronto Police Amber Alert is issued when a child under the age of 18 is missing and is considered to be in the company of someone who could cause them serious harm. Once an alert is issued, City of Toronto employees will be provided with the necessary information needed to be part of the Amber Alert watch for an abducted child.

The Office of Emergency Management has developed a protocol in which Fire Services, EMS (Emergency Medical Services), Transportation Services, the TTC, and Strategic Communications will each receive and distribute information from Toronto Police Service as soon as a Toronto area Amber Alert is issued.

Transportation Service's overhead signs will alert motorists to listen for details on the radio and employees across the City will keep watch as they go about their jobs and commute to and from work. Thousands of extra eyes will keep watch and, hopefully, provide Toronto Police Service with the information needed to safely return a missing child home.
