The Toronto HUSAR Team went to SARSCENE 2004 with the intent of
defend their title as SCARSCENE Games Champions, and defend it they
did.
The 8th annual
SARSCENE Games were the feature event for Day 1 of SARSCENE 2004.
Held at Fort Calgary and St. Patrick's Island in Calgary Alberta,
the games brought four Canadian teams together to compete in various
search and rescue (SAR) events.
Following a
day of fierce competition the Toronto HUSAR Team defended its title
as overall champion, followed by Foot Hills Search and Rescue in
second place, in third place Ground Search Newfoundland, and in
Fourth place was a team from Moosejaw, Saskatchewan.
The Toronto
HUSAR representatives were chosen from the HUSAR Training Group.

The Competition
involved the completion of 6 activities:

(Table top exercise)

(Map and compass skills over a pre-determined course)

Scene Management/Medical (Boat accident with casualties)
- Evidence/Clue
Search (Lost child scenario)
- Relay Event
(4 timed Activities):
- 12 General

building (One armed)
- Detection
Skills (Locating pre-positioned clues)
The Toronto
HUSAR team gave their strongest performance in the Emergency Scene
Management/Medical event, taking rapid and professional control
over a simulated Boating accident involving 2 casualties. A special
award, sponsored by Wilderness Medical Associates, for the Team
with the best performance in the Medical Scenario, was also awarded
to the Toronto Team.
