Thursday, October 27, 2005 Toronto's Heavy Urban Search and Rescue
(HUSAR) and Chemical, Biological,
Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) teams performed demonstrations
for the Standing Senate Committee on National Security & Defense
at Nathan Phillips Square, City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.
Both teams involve
highly trained personnel from Toronto Fire, Police, and Emergency
Medical Services who respond to significant emergencies
that may involve structural collapse and very dangerous substances.
These are exceedingly complicated and dangerous tasks.
