Toronto Youth Partnerships & Employment (TYPE) is a mobile intensive case management program supporting vulnerable youth (aged 16 to 29) in Toronto who are facing multiple and complex barriers to finding employment. An Outreach Youth Counsellor will help you with life stabilization supports by developing an action plan and connecting you to relevant services, programs, and resources.

TYPE helps you move towards employability by identifying your skills and interests, and working through the barriers that prevent you from reaching your immediate and long term employment goals.

Youth in the TYPE program can access:

• intensive, mobile, and youth directed support and service planning
• support with job readiness and job preparation
• connection to employment, education, and training programs

TYPE supports youth who identify as part of the following equity deserving groups:

• Indigenous
• Black
• Newcomer
• Person with Disabilities
• 2SLGBTQ+
• Experiencing Gender-Based Violence
• Involvement with the Justice System

PAYE provides youth with one-on-one support, referrals to training and education, networking and mentoring opportunities, and jobs with career potential.

Each year, PAYE works with hundreds of employers to help more than 1,000 youth get jobs and connect with work-based learning opportunities.

Youth Employment Partnerships (YEP) is a youth-friendly community organization network that offers co-ordinated support to young job seekers 15 to 29 years of age.

YEP is flexible to connect you to the right service and through one-on-one support and mentorship help you develop skills and knowledge as well as identify and secure the right opportunities with career potential. YEP can also connect you with training, certification and education programs to prepare you for employment.

Youth in the Black: Pathways to Financial Literacy at Weston Frontlines Centre funded by Desjardins.

Frontlines will be launching a new program, supported by Desjardins and the City of Toronto. The Youth in the Black program focuses on cultivating pathways to financial literacy for youth through an 8-week pre-employment and financial training coupled with an 8-weeks placement opportunity.

For youth, we know that pathways to financial literacy can have a significant impact on their future financial well-being. Cultivating the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions about money, budgeting, saving, investing, and managing debt are critical life skills that helps youth achieve their financial goals. It can also have important implications for their employment prospects. A core aspect of the program is cultivating pathways for young people to find employment in the financial sector. By developing their skills and expertise in core financial areas, we are striving to increase their competitiveness and success in this field.

Next summer, work for the best boss ever… you!

Every summer, Enterprise Toronto delivers a program designed to foster the entrepreneurial spirit in students aged 15 to 29 who are returning to school in the fall.

In place of a summer job, students have the opportunity to be their own boss. All that’s required is a good summer company idea, a detailed business plan, commitment and hard work.

In return, students receive hands-on training from successful business people, financial support with awards up to $3,000, and the opportunity to find out if they have what it takes to be an entrepreneur.

The Toronto Youth Job Corps is a free to join, full-time paid employment program designed to connect you to the workforce.

Are you having a hard time getting a job or staying employed? Are you between the ages of 15 to 30 and out of work and out of school?

If yes, the TYJC program might be exactly what you need.

TYJC is a full-time, paid employment preparation program for youth, especially those who are facing a difficult life situation or having a hard time getting a job.

TYJC will help you become more employment ready through:

• Employment readiness activities
• Training modules to develop employability and job skills
• Soft skills enhancement
• Job search assistance
• Group and one-to-one job coaching
• Supervised work experience through community-based work projects; and
• Work experience opportunities with a network of vetted employers

TYJC is delivered through the following two phases:

Phase I – Employment Skills Training

• 5-weeks of group based employment training where you will receive skills development training
• Combination of in-class life and employability workshops/seminars and a community project
• Community project simulates a real work environment where youth will complete different projects for non-profit organizations in the community

Phase II – Employment Opportunity

• Opportunity be placed with an employer for up to 16 weeks to gain real world work experience
• Gain experience and further enhance your employability
• Explore and evaluate different vocations to create a clearer vision for your future and what you want to be doing

Participant Eligibility

Prior to joining the TYJC program you must be:

1. Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive).
2. Resident of the City of Toronto
3. A Canadian citizen, or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
4. Legally entitled to work in Canada.
5. Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

This program is coordinated by the City of Toronto’s Social Development, Finance, and Administration Division in partnership with Service Canada and is delivered by four community agencies across the city.

ArtWorksTO is an equity, diversity, and inclusion workforce development program for Indigenous, Black, Persons of Colour and/or 2SLGBTQ+ youth who are working towards careers as creative industries professionals.  ArtWorksTO was created in response to the need to create inclusive and representative career paths in creative industries for racialized youth.

ArtWorksTO is delivered in partnership with the Toronto Arts Foundation’s Neighbourhood Arts Network, the City of Toronto, OCAD University and the Remix Project.  The program includes:

• Portfolio Development Training – Offered to 200+ IBPOC and/or 2SLGBTQ+ youth media artists by OCAD University
• Advanced Skills Training – Participants are provided with tuition, a stipend and student supports for a customized Certificate in Arts & Design Professional Skills from OCAD University
• Paid Work Experience – Participants are matched with a host organization through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process and awarded a $4,000 contract
• Industry Mentorship & Networking – Participants are provided one-on-one and group coaching sessions over the duration of the program
• Alumni Pathways – Additional training, internship and paid contract opportunities for youth who have completed the program

ArtWorksTO is open to:

• Residents of Toronto/Treaty 13
• Youth 18-29 (by the application deadline)
• Youth who are Indigenous, Black, People of Colour (IBPOC)
• Youth who are Two-spirited, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer (2SLGBTQ+)
• Youth with experience (either self-taught or through community-based or formal training) as a media artist (videographer, graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, social media communications, User Experience – UX design, etc.)
• Youth artists with career aspirations in the creative industries as a media-based artist, entrepreneur, freelancer, or working professional
