Your City views the growth of our aging population as a positive development. At the turn of the twentieth-century, life expectancy was 51 years; it is now 81 years and growing. Seniors are a valuable asset to Toronto, bringing energy and lived experience to our diverse communities. That’s why your City has invested your tax dollars into the creation of 13 senior centres, which serve as a gateway for Toronto seniors to network and connect to vital services.
It’s widely accepted that social participation is associated with better physical and mental health. A donation of $500 will meet the recreational materials demand for one centre. Our annual goal is $6,500 to purchase new supplies for every centre.
