Improving the City from the Ground up, One Neighbourhood at a Time
Become a sponsor, donor or partner in this highly successful initiative that creates training and job opportunities while engaging residents in transforming their community spaces. Each year, the Recipe For Community program chooses a new neighbourhood that needs a boost in resources and opportunities. Some ways that past projects have made a real difference in making stronger, healthier communities include:
- Public murals
- Revitalized basketball courts
- Carpentry programs
- Business and bike repair skills
- Youth leadership development
- Food handling and first-aid certification
- Gardening initiatives
- Cooking and nutrition programs
- Performance and fine arts programs
- Creation of outdoor community performance/movie theatres
The four key community “ingredients” in Recipe For Community are food, convening, youth engagement and neighbourhood beautification. We have worked with residents, and public and private partners in Alexandra Park, St. James Town, Weston Mt. Dennis and Scarborough Village. Together we have transformed community spaces, trained residents in new skills and strengthened community leadership.
As a donor, sponsor or partner, you can share in these remarkable achievements. Help us improve the city from the ground up, one neighbourhood at a time.
