The City of Toronto recognizes that Members of Council make lasting contributions to the City of Toronto, to their communities, and the public.
In the event of a death of a Council Member, the City will provide information about funeral and/or celebration of life services and allow the public to pay tribute by submitting condolence messages, via this website.
Condolence messages will then be bound in a book and presented to the family members of the deceased Member of Council.
As a public measure of respect and sorrow, when the demise of a Member of Council is announced, the Canadian flag may be lowered to half at Toronto City Hall, Metro Hall and Civic Centres, until sunset on the day of the funeral or memorial, unless other arrangements have been confirmed.
