The Brookings Global Metro Monitor focuses on 300 largest economic regions in the world, ranking the sampled metropolitan areas based on employment, GDP per capita growth, and population changes from 2000 to 2016.

Toronto placed 136 of 300, improving its rank from 197, due to a 2.0% growth rate in employment, and a 1.8% growth rate in GPD per capita between 2014 and 2016.
