Phase One construction started June 2018 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and construction is expected to end late fall 2018, weather permitting. After-hours work may be required.


The City is implementing improvements to Glasgow Street Parkette, which are integrated with Streetscape Improvements on Glasgow Street and improvements to the landscape of Cecil Community Centre.

Phase One

The Parkette will be closed and access restrictions on Glasgow Street may be required. In mid-July, Glasgow Street from Cecil Street to the North end of the Glasgow Street Parkette will be closed.

Parkette improvements will include:

  • new paving
  • seating
  • lighting
  • trees
  • planting
  • fencing
  • bottle filler
  • more open sight-lines
  • more useable surface for Community Centre programming

Streetscape improvements will include new:

  • paving
  • sidewalk
  • curbs

The parkette and streetscape improvements include integrated public art through the City’s StreetART program.

Phase Two

Community Centre landscape improvements in Phase Two will include new:

  • paving
  • seating
  • planting
