Construction of Phase 1 will start the first week of June 2018. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with work after hours as required. The Parkette will be closed and access restrictions on Glasgow Street may be required. In mid-July, Glasgow Street from Cecil Street to the North end of the Glasgow Street Parkette will be closed. Construction is expected to end August 2018, all dates weather permitting.

 

The City is implementing improvements to Glasgow Street Parkette, which are integrated with Streetscape Improvements on Glasgow Street and improvements to the landscape of Cecil Community Centre. The first phase of the project will include the parkette and streetscape improvements.

Parkette improvements will include:

  • new paving
  • seating
  • lighting
  • trees
  • planting
  • fencing
  • bottle filler
  • more open sight-lines
  • more useable surface for Community Centre programming

Streetscape improvements will include new:

  • paving
  • sidewalk
  • curbs

The parkette and streetscape improvements include integrated public art through the City’s StreetART program.

Community Centre landscape improvements in Phase 2 will include new:

  • paving
  • seating
  • planting
