Hearing and listening skills can impact a child’s learning, social skills and how they communicate with others.

Hearing and ear health are important for:

  • Developing speech sounds and spoken language
  • Following directions that are spoken
  • Listening to music and stories
  • Learning in school (hearing and understanding spoken instructions and directions)

Even mild hearing loss can lead to delays in spoken language development and difficulties in school. The only way to know if your child has a hearing loss is by having their hearing tested.
