The Roehampton Hotel, located at 808 Mount Pleasant Road, has opened to shelter clients as part of the City of Toronto’s three-tiered COVID-19 response. City of Toronto staff operate the site and provide case management, housing help, meals, and recreational programming. The site is staffed 24/7 with additional video security surveillance and two security guards on-site 24/7.
Opening this site allows individuals who are experiencing homelessness to stay safe while ensuring physical distancing in the shelter system. This site will also provide access to supports that help some clients find permanent housing. The opportunity to re-purpose vacant buildings to house people experiencing homelessness is an excellent example of how partnerships and innovative solutions enhance the City’s response to help those experiencing homelessness.
