Subject: New Hope Leslieville Update – Opening the week of January 8th
After two years of planning, renovations, and some unavoidable delays, New Hope Leslieville is preparing to open its doors. Starting the week of January 8th, The Salvation Army’s full staff team will be working on site, 24/7. The plan is to start to welcome clients gradually, beginning with about 20 men on the first nights, and building to the full complement of 60 clients.
As you know, New Hope Leslieville will offer a full array of services on site. These include three meals a day, counselling, referrals to health and other services and — most importantly — help finding and keeping a permanent home. Shelter residents do not need to line up to get into the shelter or leave the shelter during the daytime.
A warm welcome to neighbours
In the first weeks after opening, New Hope staff will be focused on establishing the operating routines that lead to a well-run shelter. But they are also looking forward to announcing an Open House for the community. This will be your opportunity to see what the renovations look like from the inside, meet New Hope Leslieville’s Director, Angela Hutchinson, and learn more about the services offered in the shelter. Watch for my email in late February for more information.
If you have any questions over the holidays, don’t hesitate to contact me at this email, or 416-466-2371. Once New Hope Leslieville is up and running, the direct phone number to the shelter will be 647-362-3062.
