Timing and Schedule

• Phase 1 (late June to mid-July): TTC streetcar track renewal on Lake Shore Boulevard West from Louisa Street to Mimico Avenue
• Phase 2 (mid-July to early August): TTC streetcar track renewal at the intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Kipling Avenue
• Phase 3 (early August to early September): Road reconstruction on Kipling Avenue, approximately 100 metres north of Kipling Loop

Work Hours

During Phase 1 work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. During Phases 2 & 3 work will take place 24 hours, seven days a week. Excavation activities and heavy breaking will be carried out at various times throughout the day.

All concrete breaking activities will occur between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Concrete breaking work is the most disruptive and will typically last the first three to four days for each phase of the construction. Around-the-clock work during rail installation by TTC is required to preserve the integrity and quality of new rail and concrete. Overnight rail work by TTC may consist of moving new rail into position, rail installation and rail welding / grinding.

Accommodation

The City’s contractor must ensure safe and accessible walkways and entryways are maintained for everyone during construction. Any temporary access disruptions will be communicated as soon as possible. If you experience a disruption, have a specific access need or related accommodation request, contact the Public Consultation Unit Staff listed below.

During Phase 1 (Louisa Street to Mimico Avenue)

• One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Lake Shore Boulevard West through the construction zone.

During Phase 2 (Kipling Avenue /Lake Shore Boulevard intersection)

• One lane of eastbound traffic on Lake Shore Blvd will be maintained through the construction zone. Access to Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive (Humber College Campus) from Lake Shore Boulevard will be maintained during Phase 2
• Kipling Avenue will be closed to southbound traffic at Birmingham Street with the exception of local traffic until road resurfacing begins
• There will be no right turns onto Kipling Avenue from Lake Shore Boulevard

During Phase 3 (Kipling Loop & Kipling Avenue north of Lake Shore Blvd)

• Kipling Avenue will be closed to southbound traffic from Birmingham Street to Lake Shore Blvd with the exception of local traffic until road resurfacing begins
• Parking restrictions within the construction zone on Kipling Avenue will be necessary. Alternate parking details will be provided prior to the start of the work.
• There will be no access to the driveways on Kipling Avenue just north of Lake Shore Blvd.

TTC Service Diversion Information

44 Kipling South and 944 Kipling South Express: Southbound Kipling Avenue, westbound Birmingham Street, southbound Twenty-Second Street, eastbound Lake Shore Boulevard West, south and then northbound Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, eastbound Lake Shore Boulevard West, northbound Fifteenth Street, westbound Birmingham Street, northbound Kipling Avenue to route.

501/301 Queen (Westbound only): Westbound Lake Shore, northbound Fifteenth Street, westbound Birmingham Street and southbound Twenty-Second Street.

TTC Pole Cards with service information will also be posted at stops along each route.

Parking

This project will restrict on-street parking on Lake Shore Boulevard West during construction. Parking in the active work zone is not permitted as space is needed for construction equipment and materials. If your parked vehicle affects construction work, it will be relocated with no charge to the owner. Please call 416-808-2222 for its location.

• During Phase 1 (Louisa Street to Mimico Avenue) Additional no-cost parking for store patrons will be provided on the following streets: Primrose Avenue, Mimico Avenue, Superior Avenue, Burlington Street and Albert Street. Signage will be placed to indicate where no-cost parking is available during Phase 1 construction.

Deliveries

Businesses may want to consider adjusting delivery times as a result of the lane restrictions during this project.

• During Phase 1 (Louisa Street to Mimico Avenue) the City will be providing delivery zones for Lake Shore Boulevard West store owners during Phase 1 construction. The streets that will have delivery zone areas are Superior Avenue, Primrose Avenue, Mimico Avenue, Burlington Street, and Albert Street. Additional on street signage will be placed to identify the designated delivery areas.
