Public art and streetscape improvements can be included in several different ways with this project. New public art and streetscape improvements could be located in the medians, integrated with the bridge design, in open space along Overlea Boulevard, or in partnership with schools.
In all options the Thorncliffe Park gateway feature would be preserved.
The City is looking to find ways to add public art and improve the streetscape during a later phase of the project.
StreetARToronto (StART) is a suite of innovative programs designed specifically for streets and public spaces. The project team is looking at different opportunities for StART projects on Overlea Boulevard.

Public art would also be included in the overall design of the bridge, in open space along Overlea Boulevard and in cooperation with streetscape improvements.

The City of Toronto invites professional artists (including artist teams) to submit their Expression of Interest to the first stage of a competition for integrated public artwork(s) as part of the redesign and replacement of the Overlea Boulevard Bridge and surrounding roadwork improvements.
The art component of this revitalised public space will be selected through an open two-stage competition, with a net budget of approximately $600,000.00 (+HST). The project budget includes all costs directly associated with the artwork: all fees for design, fabrication, installation, engineering and professional services, insurance, travel and other incidental expenses.
Deadline for submissions closed on March 14, 2023.
