Toronto Public Health enforces the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 (SFOA, 2017) to help reduce youth access to tobacco and vapour products. The SFOA, 2017 prohibits the sale or supply of tobacco and vapour products to anyone who is less than 19 years old or to anyone who appears to be younger than 25 years old unless identification is provided.

Tobacco sales offences that result in a conviction can be applied towards an Automatic Prohibition from the sale, storage and delivery of tobacco products for a minimum of six months. Please review the Disclaimer Regarding Automatic Prohibition.
A location is subject to an Automatic Prohibition when two or more owner convictions for tobacco sales offences occur within a five year period, regardless of a change in ownership.

An Automatic Prohibition prevents a business from the sale, storage and delivery of tobacco products for a minimum of six months. Certain tobacco sales offences that result in a conviction can be applied towards an Automatic Prohibition. A location is subject to an Automatic Prohibition when two or more owner convictions for tobacco sales offences occur within a five year period, regardless of a change in ownership.
