Many centuries older than Tai Chi Chuan - Qigong (pronounced Chee Gung) is sometimes referred to as 'moving meditation', or Chinese Yoga. This ancient Chinese art does not involve a choreographed sequence and is generally performed either standing or sitting in one place. It is not necessary to memorize the movements, as one need only follow the instructor. Breathing and slow, gentle movements are co-ordinated to allow the 'chi' to flow through the body's energy channels. It is both energizing and calming, providing an excellent counterpoint to the frenetic pace of our daily lives.
