Toronto's comprehensive series of Learn to Swim programs provide a full range of classes for swimmers of varying abilities. Babies and preschoolers are able to enjoy their first splash in the water, while youth and adults can work towards improving their swimming skills. All our programs were created to give the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in swimming and water safety in a safe and enjoyable environment. Whether you have a child who needs to improve their skills, a teenager who wants to be a lifeguard, or you simply want to get back into the swim of things, give our instructional programs a try.

Adult Swim 1

Basic swimming skills and water safety. This is an introductory or beginner level. Prerequisite: A keen interest in developing skills and knowledge that promotes safe enjoyment of aquatic environments. Adult 1 develops or increases students' comfort in the water through basic floatation, movement and breathing skills and fosters the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to prepare, stay safe and survive in and around water.

Adult Swim 1 - Small Group

Basic swimming skills and water safety. This is an introductory or beginner level. Prerequisite: A keen interest in developing skills and knowledge that promotes safe enjoyment of aquatic environments. Adult 1 develops or increases students' comfort in the water through basic floatation, movement and breathing skills and fosters the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to prepare, stay safe and survive in and around water. Class size is limited to 4.

Adult Swim 1 (Women)

Swimming strokes and water safety. Prerequisite: Ability to swim 15 metres continuously on front or back and a willingness to increase comfort in deep water. Adult 2 develops one or more swimming strokes, working towards proficiency and increased endurance, and introduces or enhances water safety knowledge and skills relevant to the student.

Adult Swim 2 - Small Group

Swimming strokes and water safety. Prerequisite: Ability to swim 15 metres continuously on front or back and a willingness to increase comfort in deep water. Prerequisite: Ability to swim 50 metres continuously in at least two of the following strokes: front crawl, back crawl, elementary back and confidence to swim in deep water. Adult 3 maintains or increases the students' fitness through stroke improvement in a distance swim setting;introduces other forms of aquatic fitness activities and introduces or enhances water safety knowledge and skills relevant to the student.

Adult Swim 3 - Small Group

Lifetime swimming fitness and safety. Prerequisite: Ability to swim 50 metres continuously in at least two of the following strokes: front crawl, back crawl, elementary back and confidence to swim in deep water. Adult 3 maintains or increases the students' fitness through stroke improvement in a distance swim setting;introduces other forms of aquatic fitness activities and introduces or enhances water safety knowledge and skills relevant to the student. Class size is limited to 4.

Adult Swim 3 (Women)

Guardian Swim - Small Group

The Guardian Swim Program provides an introduction to the aquatic environment and basic skills. It is age appropriate and progressive. Learning is facilitated through the parent/ caregiver to ensure comfort, communication and extra safety. Parent or guardian must accompany child into the water. One child per parent/guardian. Class size limited to 4 participants.

Guardian Swim 3

Older Adult Swim 1

This one-hour program is designed for older adults who have floating skills and are adjusted to shallow water. Front and back crawl will be introduced.

Older Adult Swim 2

This program works towards being comfortable in deep water. Development of various swimming strokes and treading water are the focus in this class. This one hour program is for olde adults who are comfortable in deep water and are able to perform front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke. Older adults develop stroke skills and endurance.

Older Adult Swim 3

This program is for older adults who are comfortable in deep water and are able to perform front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke. Older adults develop stroke skills and endurance.

Preschool Swim 1: Penguin

Safety, facility and aquatic orientation. Introduction to entries, exits, submersions, breath control and basic floats with assistance. Floats, movement, basic kicks and swimming skills.

Preschool Swim 2: Stingray

Development of entries and exits, breath holding, bobbing and floats. Introduction to front and back swim, treading skills and deep water orientations. Continuous swim 5 metres.

Preschool Swim 2: Stingray (Girls)

Development of entries and exits, breath holding, bobbing and floats. Introduction to front and back swim, treading skills and deep water orientations. Continuous swim 5 metres. This program is for females only.

Preschool Swim 3: Otter

Development of endurance, time requirements, entries, bobbing, rolls, sculling and treading skills. Introduction to front crawl, PFD/lifejacket/buoyant aids, clothed survival and use of aids. Continuous swim 15 metres.

Preschool Swim 3: Otter (Girls)

Development of endurance, time requirements, entries, bobbing, rolls, sculling and treading skills. Introduction to front crawl, PFD/lifejacket/buoyant aids, clothed survival and use of aids. Continuous swim 15 metres. This program is for females only.

Preschool Swim 4: Dolphin

Development of breath control, entries, deepwater techniques, survival skills and front crawl. Introduction to back crawl, combined stroke swims, deep water, descent and ascent, under water swim. HELP position and self-rescue. Continuous swim 25 metres.

SPLASH Swim Team

Prerequisite: Must be able to swim at least 2 continuous pool lengths unassisted. Participants are provided with swim workouts along with the assistance and development of the four competitive swimming stroke and competitive swim skills.

Swim Lessons - Private

Private lessons provide a ratio of one instructor per participant while completing swimming skills specific to the participant.

Tiny Tots Swim

Children in tiny tots progress through the Learn to Swim skills at their own pace. Lessons are private (one participant per instructor) and 15 minutes in length. There are no prerequisites.

Ultra Swim 1

Ultra Swim 3 - Small Group

Ultra Youth Swim 1

Learning to swim can be intimidating when you are older and just starting out. This program is designed to meet the needs of youth (9-16 years) that have little to no swim training. Instead of trying to fit into the traditional Learn to Swim Levels with children half their age, youth can learn to swim in a group lesson with their peers. This is an introductory level teaching the basics of getting wet, basic floating positions, and introduction to front and back swims. We are committed to creating a comfortable swim environment for people learning to swim at any age. Knowing how to swim can save your life! Get in the swim!

Ultra Youth Swim 2

Upon successfully completing Ultra Youth Swim 1, enrolment in Ultra Youth Swim 2 is recommended. This program will build on the skills learned in the first level facilitating the development of front crawl, back crawl elementary backstroke, and surface support. New skills such as breaststroke, surface dives and stride entries will also be introduced.

Ultra Youth Swim 3

Upon successfully completing Ultra Youth Swim 2, enrolment in Ultra Youth Swim 3 is recommended. This program will build on the skills learned in the second level facilitating the development of proficient strokes and skills. The continuous swim component will increase endurance.
