The Project

“On and on and on and on” will feature thousands of sashes printed with the words “and on.” People of every age and ability will be invited to pick up a sash and wear it throughout the night. The result will be a growing, infinitely circular poem that will move around Nuit Blanche Toronto. This project’s collaborative approach to embodying and distributing physical poetry relies on the parodic motif of the sash. The sash, in this case, will be both wearable art and limited-edition print. This garb borrows the levity, celebration and pageantry of a beauty contest. But it’s also deadpan, austerely monochrome and repeatedly concise in its phrasing. The project’s irreverent seriousness and dedication to absurdity will produce an intervention that fosters curiosity among observers and collectivity among participants.
