As a companion to the thorough information currently provided on the COVID-19 web pages, the City of Toronto has introduced a chatbot to help residents and businesses with common COVID-19 questions.
The chatbot is constantly learning. If the chatbot doesn’t provide an appropriate answer, it may not understand the question, might not have the information programmed yet or the question may not be related to COVID-19. Users are encouraged to rephrase their question, search toronto.ca/covid-19 or call 311 for more information.
The chatbot is only available in English. For information in other languages, please call 311 which offers service in over 180 languages
The information received from this chatbot is for informational purposes only and should not be taken as medical advice. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, care, or prevent any health problem, nor is it intended to replace the advice of a physician. Please contact your healthcare provider or Telehealth Ontario if you have any personal medical questions.
Please note that the chatbot messages are not being monitored by a person or medical professional.
The City of Toronto cannot accept liability for any personal or personal health information that has been provided through the chatbot.
The chatbot is a companion to toronto.ca/covid-19, not a replacement. It’s recommended that you look for information on the website first. If you are unable to find what you’re looking for, the chatbot can quickly search its database to see if it can find an answer for you.
311 Toronto is also available 24/7 to answer any questions you have related to City services during the COVID-19 response.
The City’s chatbot uses artificial intelligence technology which allows a computer system to perform tasks that typically a human would, in this case, a question and answer function.
The City’s chatbot has been trained to answer questions about COVID-19 and City services affected by this pandemic. It draws from content found on toronto.ca/covid-19 to find answers. City staff are continually teaching the chatbot and updating the data it has access to. It improves with every interaction with a human.
The COVID-19 chatbot is new and still learning. If you get an answer that wasn’t quite what you were looking for, try asking it again using different words. Each question you ask is a learning opportunity for us and the chatbot.
The chatbot is a companion to toronto.ca/covid-19, not a replacement. If the chatbot can’t help you, use the website search to find information. 311 Toronto is also available 24/7 to answer any questions you have related to City services during the COVID-19 response.
Type “feedback” into the chatbot or click the feedback link in the bottom corner. Rate your experience on a 1-5 rating scale (1 being poor and 5 being excellent). We are working on a more comprehensive feedback mechanism for future versions of the chatbot.
