COVID-19: Travel Advice

International Travellers

Parents travelling with children outside of Canada have to follow federal requirements on return. Learn more about the requirements for children and youth who are not fully vaccinated (French). See Travel to Canada: Requirements for COVID-19 vaccinated travellers: children or dependents.

Employers in Ontario are legally required to observe and uphold the Ontario Human Rights Code. On January 28, 2020, the Ontario Human Rights Commission released a statement indicating that:

discriminatory action against any persons or communities because of an association with COVID-19, perceived or otherwise, is prohibited by the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Employees returning from international travel should not be subject to any adverse treatment as this may constitute discrimination under the Code. Workers who believe that they are being discriminated against can contact their union, human resources department and/or the Ontario Human Rights Legal Support Centre at 1-866-625-5179.

Travellers who have completed their mandatory 14 day isolation should not return to work if their work place has been impacted by the Government of Ontario’s emergency orders. Ontario businesses who have questions about the emergency orders can call the province’s toll-free line: 1-888-444-3659.

  • Individuals must follow all travel requirements for the use of face masks, as applicable.
  • The Government of Canada requires all air and train passengers to wear a mask throughout their entire journey, with limited exceptions.
  • It is strongly recommended to wear a well-fitting, high quality face mask in indoor public spaces, such as when travelling by boat or bus.
