The City of Toronto is inviting Torontonians to share their thoughts on recent changes to City Council and how to support Council’s local and city-wide decision-making. The public can participate online, at upcoming public sessions and by hosting their own discussions.
Input from the consultation will help to inform staff’s recommendations to a Special Committee on Governance established by Toronto City Council. The Committee’s mandate is to consider the impacts of a smaller Council on the City’s governance and recommend any further changes to its interim structure.
The public can provide feedback in the following ways:
Online
Beginning June 1, an online survey and toolkit for residents and organizations to host their own meetings, along with background information, will be available at http://www.toronto.ca/TOgovernance.
Public sessions
Five sessions will be held to provide an opportunity to learn about the City’s governance and decision-making processes, speak with staff and other residents and, provide feedback. All sessions start with a one-hour drop-in open house, followed by roundtable discussions and individual input:
• June 10, 6 to 9 p.m., Etobicoke Olympium, 590 Rathburn Rd., main lounge area
• June 12, 6 to 9 p.m., Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr., rotunda
• June 13, 6 to 9 p.m., North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge St., Burgundy Room
• June 15, 1 to 4 p.m., Metro Hall, 55 John St., rooms 308/309
• June 17, 6 to 9 p.m., North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, 200 Eglinton Ave. W., main lounge area
