The City of Toronto will recognize National Child Day tomorrow in acknowledgment of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Media are invited to hear local students give presentations at City Hall about civic initiatives they are involved in that are influencing local change. The students will present to City leaders including Deputy Mayor Michael Thompson (Councillor Ward 21 Scarborough Centre), City Manager Chris Murray, Deputy City Manager Giuliana Carbone, Deputy City Manager Josie Scioli, Dr. Eileen de Villa, Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health, and Shanley McNamee, General Manager of Children’s Services.

The emphasis of this year’s event is to recognize and celebrate children as active citizens who can and should meaningfully contribute to planning and decision-making in Toronto.
