SUBJECT: Remuneration and Expenses of Members of Council
and of Council Appointees to Local Boards and
other Special Purpose Bodies for the period
January 1 to December 31, 1997
Purpose:
To provide Council with information respecting the timing of submission of a Report related to the above.

Recommendation:
It is recommended that this Report be received for information.
Discussion:
Section No. 247 of The Municipal Act provides that the Treasurer of every municipality shall submit to the Council of the municipality, before February 28, in each year, a statement of the remuneration and expenses paid in the preceding year to each Member of Council in respect of his/her services as a Member of Council or as an officer of the municipal corporation and also to each Member of Council or other person appointed by the Council to a local board or other special purpose body.
A report providing this information in respect of the former metropolitan and area municipalities is currently being compiled. However, given the current schedule of Council meetings and other administrative issues related to the amalgamation, it is anticipated that this report will be forwarded to the Corporate Services committee meeting on March 30, 1998 and, subsequently, to Council on April 15, 1998.
