Installing a Parking Prohibition on
Eppleworth Road - Scarborough City Centre
The Scarborough Community Council recommends the adoption of the following report (January 23, 1998) from the Director, Road and Traffic Services, Scarborough:
Purpose:
To address the need for an extension of a previously installed parking prohibition on Eppleworth Road by an additional five metres.
Funding Sources:
The $100.00 (approximate) funds associated with the removal of the parking prohibition signs are available in the Road and Traffic Services 1998 Budget Account No. 20000-70200-72260.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that:
(1) the no parking regulations identified in Appendix 1 of this report be adopted; and
(2) the appropriate by-law be amended accordingly.
Background:
Road and Traffic Services received a request from a Metro Police Officer to slightly adjust a parking prohibition sign on the west side of Eppleworth Road, in front of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Discussion:
The current No Parking Anytime prohibition extends through the turning basin at the north end of Eppleworth Road. The concern is that the walkway to the church is not accessible for parishioners arriving on the church bus or handicapped pedestrians. By relocating the No Parking Anytime sign an additional five metres to the south, we would make this walkway more accessible for receiving and discharging passengers. This prohibition will eliminate only one on-street parking space.
Conclusions:
To assist the church in loading and unloading passengers at the front walkway, we are recommending that the existing No Parking Anytime restriction be extended by five metres.
