June 3, 1999

Ms. Novina Wong

City Clerk

City of Toronto

Toronto City Hall

100 Queen Street West

Toronto, Ontario

M5H 2N2

Dear Ms. Wong:

At its meeting on Tuesday, June 1, 1999, the Commission received deputations from Mr. Andonis Artemakis, Chair, Greektown on Danforth Business Improvement Association and Ms. Sue Graham-Nutter, Affinity Marketing Concepts requesting free adverting space at TTC subway stations to promote the "Krinos Foods Taste of the Danforth" Festival.

The Commission requested that a copy of the attached communication from Mr. Artemakis be referred to the City Economic Development and Parks Committee for information and consideration.

The Commission also reports, for the information of the City Economic Development and Parks Committee, having taken the following action:

1.That staff assist in the promotion of the "Krinos Foods Taste of the Danforth" Event through the use of electronic messaging;

2.That staff report on developing a policy which would deal with the provision of advertising space for Signature Tourist Events, smaller Business Improvement Association festivals and social objectives;

3.That staff undertake an analysis to determine the revenue impact associated with the upcoming Caribana Festival;

The foregoing is forwarded to the Economic Development and Parks Committee for information and consideration, as noted above.

Sincerely,

A.J. Chocorlan
