To: Planning and Transportation Committee

From: City Clerk, Licensing Sub-Committee

Subject: Interim Replacements of Members of Examining Boards

Recommendations:

The Licensing Sub-Committee recommends that the Acting Commissioner, Urban Development Services:

(1) be authorized to begin the process to fill, on an interim basis, the one vacancy on the Master Electrician Examining Board and the three vacancies on the Building Renovator Examining Board; and

(2) at the conclusion of the process, report to the Planning and Transportation Committee, through the Licensing Sub-Committee, with names of individuals for appointment to these two boards for an interim period ending December 31, 2000, or until the Licensing By-law review has been completed.

Background:

At its meeting on January 24, 2000, the Licensing Sub-Committee considered a report (January 13, 2000) from the Acting Commissioner, Urban Development Services, requesting to fill vacancies on the Master Electrician Examining Board (one vacancy) and the Building Renovator Examining Board (three vacancies) for the current year, and recommending that:

(1) the Licensing Sub-Committee approve the filling of these vacancies; and

(2) the appropriate Municipal Licensing and Standards Division staff be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto.

The Sub-Committee's action is as noted above.

City Clerk
