Panel Decision

The Corporations Nominating Panel recommends that:

 

1.  City Council appoint the following candidates to the Lakeshore Arena Corporation Board, at pleasure of Council, for a term of office ending on June 7, 2018, and until successors are appointed:

 

Bruce Hetherington

Robert J. Hunter

Jack Lawrence

 

2.  City Council direct that the confidential information contained in Confidential Attachments 1, 2, 3 and 4 to the report (May 11, 2016) from the City Clerk remain confidential in their entirety as they relate to personal matters about identifiable individuals being considered for appointment to the Lakeshore Arena Corporation Board.

Candidates' biographies:

 

Bruce Hetherington

 

Bruce has spent his career in the corporate finance industry working for commercial banks, pension funds and private equity firms. His focus has been on structuring and arranging long term debt and equity for a variety of corporations and infrastructure projects. He has sat on the boards of several companies and has helped develop and execute strategies for growth. His interest in hockey arenas stems from having his two sons participate in minor hockey in Toronto from an early age.

 

Robert Hunter

 

Bob has spent his entire career managing some of Canada's premier sports and entertainment facilities.  Hunter started his career at Ontario Place in Toronto; moved to Vancouver to open BC Place Stadium and returned to Toronto to work on the $600M SkyDome Stadium.  In 1998, he was hired as Executive Vice President/General Manager at Air Canada Centre, home of the Maple Leafs and Raptors.  In his current role, he manages business opportunities and capital projects at all MLSE venues.

 

Jack Lawrence

 

Jack is a graduate in Civil Engineering/Survey Technology whose career followed a path in information technology. Having served 36 years with municipal government he is familiar with local government processes including strategic planning, operations, and budgets. Jack has served on a number of boards in various positions. Since 1995, he has been a member of the Faustina Hockey League, coaching minor hockey and holding numerous positions on the Executive and Board of Governors, and is currently the Faustina President.
