News Release
July 23, 2021

The City continues to work non-stop with its healthcare partners, pharmacies and Toronto Public Health to administer all available COVID-19 vaccines. To date, 4,193,199 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Toronto as part of the broader Team Toronto initiative.

Total COVID-19 vaccine doses: 4,193,199

Increase from previous total: 20,795

Number of clinics across Toronto today: 34

Currently, all nine City of Toronto vaccination clinics offer walk-in vaccinations for anyone age 12 and older needing a first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine between noon and 7 p.m. Appointments are still available for those wishing to have a confirmed appointment. There are more than 38,000 vaccination appointments available for the remainder of this week.

Starting Saturday, July 24, all City-run clinics will be administering Moderna and Pfizer vaccines as supply permits. People attending the clinic will not be able to make requests or choose between the vaccines. The best vaccine is the one available to you. Both Pfizer and Moderna brands are mRNA vaccines and are extremely effective against COVID-19 transmission. Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) has found “no important difference” between Moderna and Pfizer and considers these mRNA vaccines interchangeable.

Everyone age 12 years or older is encouraged to book their vaccination appointment as soon as possible. Second dose appointments can be booked by anyone, including youth ages 12 to 17, who received a first Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 28 days ago or a first AstraZeneca vaccine at least eight weeks ago. To book an appointment, click the blue “Book a Vaccine” button at City’s COVID-19 webpage or call the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900.

Anyone who has an appointment for later this summer or fall is encouraged to change it to an earlier date and get vaccinated sooner. Appointments at City-run clinics can be cancelled or changed at  Provincial Vaccine Booking webpage  or by calling the provincial booking line.

A second dose of vaccine is also the best protection against the COVID-19 Delta variant (B.1.617.2) that is more infectious than other strains of the virus. Recent studies have shown that two weeks after the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, a person’s protection against the Delta variant is 50 per cent higher than one dose alone.

  • Downsview Arena – Serving all priority postal codes.
  • University of Toronto Scarborough Campus – UTSC (M1 postal codes) – First and second doses for individuals 12 years of age or older who live/work/attend school in any “M1” postal code.
