The City of Toronto is inviting the public to attend four consultations to provide input into the Body Rub Parlours and Holistic Centres Bylaw Review. The aim of the review is to modernize the licensing bylaw to promote public health and safety, as well as effective oversight and enforcement.
There will be four public consultations:
• Tuesday, March 5, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Metro Hall, Room 308/309, 55 John St.
• Friday, March 8, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Etobicoke Civic Centre, Meeting Rooms 1/2/3, 399 The West Mall
• Monday, March 11, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Agincourt Public Library, Auditorium, 155 Bonis Ave.
• Tuesday, March 19, 6 to 8 p.m., Scadding Court Community Centre, Room 1, 707 Dundas St. W.
Requirements for body rub parlours and holistic centres fall under the Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 545, Licensing, which regulates body rub parlour owners, body rubbers, holistic centre owners and holistic practitioners.
This review is responding to Toronto City Council direction to undertake a comprehensive review of industry regulations. As part of the review, the City is also holding five meetings with licensees.
Feedback from the public consultations and stakeholder meetings will be used to recommend updates to the bylaw in a report going to the General Government and Licensing Committee this spring.
