Graffiti Art Exemption
Protecting your privacy is top priority for the City of Toronto. You are seeing this alert because your web browser needs to be updated to access content on toronto.ca. You will need to download and install a more recent version of your web browser to use our website.
There are two types of graffiti. Graffiti art adds to the street culture of a community or neighbourhood. Graffiti vandalism, on the other hand, involves the “tagging” or marking of property without the owner’s consent. In Toronto, graffiti vandalism must be removed within 72 hours, while hate graffiti must be removed within 24 hours.
If you have been issued a Notice of Violation, requiring you to remove graffiti from your property, you may apply to have it re-categorized as graffiti art.
