The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has begun a series of rotating strikes. Some City of Toronto services and programs are affected by the Canada Post service disruption. Do not mail payments, change requests or completed applications.

Alternative Payment Methods & Online Services


Property owners and utility bill recipients are responsible for paying property taxes and utility bills by the set due dates as these will not be extended due to the Canada Post service disruption. Please do not mail payments. Please pay before the due date to ensure your payment reaches our office on time.The payment methods below can be used to remit payments:

  • At banks or financial institutions, including online banking, telephone banking, automatic teller or in person at your local branch.
  • Payment Drop Boxes – You can deposit City of Toronto tax and utility cheque payments (no cash) in specially marked drop boxes at Civic Centres and City Hall. Access a list of the Property Tax and Utility Bill Payment Drop Box Locations.
  • In person at an Inquiry & Payment Counter 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). All sites are wheelchair accessible.

Penalty and interest charges resulting from late payments cannot be reversed.

If you have recently purchased a property in the City of Toronto, you may visit an Inquiry & Payment Counter to obtain a Property Tax Account Statement or duplicate property tax bill.

Pre-Authorized Tax and Pre-Authorized Utility Bill Payment Programs

If you need to change your financial institution account or need to cancel your pre-authorized arrangement by fax:

  • For Tax – fax to 416-392-0799
  • For Utility – fax to 416-696-4219

Be sure to fax signed, written notice to the City at least 15 days before your next withdrawal date. For financial institution account changes, a new void cheque is required.

During the Canada Post service disruption, parking violation payments can continue to be made online or in person.

  • Payment Online – Online payments for parking violations may be made by VISA, MasterCard or American Express.
    • Transactions may take up to 2 business days to be processed. Please allow sufficient time to ensure your ticket is paid on time.
  • Payment In Person – Inquiry & Payment Counter hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). All sites are wheelchair accessible.

Parking Violation Lookup Tool

Use the Parking Violation Lookup tool to confirm the current status of your parking violation.

Tax & Utility Certificates can be requested online. The certificate will be ready within 1 to 2 business days. It can be downloaded in digital format via a secure portal.

If you wish to courier the request, lawyers can send their letters of request and applicable payment to:
