Never miss a payment due date! Sign up for pre-authorized payments on MyToronto Pay to pay automatically from your bank account or credit/debit card.

Enrol in the Pre-Authorized Tax Payment (PTP) program and have your property tax bill payments automatically deducted from your bank account, credit card or debit card.  

  • Property taxes must be in good standing to qualify for this program. 
  • Property owner(s) can enrol online, immediately receive an enrolment email confirmation and view your payment schedule.   

Note: Payment schedule may vary depending on when you enrol. Upon receipt of enrolment confirmation email, user can select “Bill Details” to view their pre-authorized payment schedule. 

Additional Charges and Program Removal

  • Additional charges that fall outside of the regular tax instalment schedule, such as supplementary and/or omitted property tax bills, fire charges, Workplace Safety Insurance Board, Toronto Police Service, Municipal Licensing Standards charges or past due utility bill amounts added to the tax roll, cannot be paid through this program at this time. If you do not pay these additional charges separately, you will be removed from the program and returned to the regular six instalment plan. 
  • You will be removed from the program if a payment does not clear through your financial institution, if you have an unpaid balance, or if there is an ownership change recorded for your property. 

Program Information

Choose one of three payment plans:

2 Instalment Plan

Property taxes will be paid each year by two withdrawals:

  • March for the interim property tax bill
  • July for the final property tax bill

6 Instalment Plan

Property taxes will be paid each year by six withdrawals:

  • March, April and May for the interim property tax bill
  • July, August and September for the final property tax bill

11 Instalment Plan

Property taxes will be paid each year by eleven withdrawals:

  • February to June for the interim property tax bill
  • July to December for the final property tax bill

For new PTP enrollees, your pre-authorized payment schedule may vary from the schedule(s) described above, depending upon your entry date into the program.

Signing up for pre-authorized payments is quick and easy. You can enrol one or more property tax accounts by following these steps. 

  1. Sign in or create an account on MyToronto Pay.  
  2. Connect a property tax account using your property tax bill information, if you haven’t previously. 
  3. Choose “Manage Pre-Authorized Tax Payments”. 
  4. Enter payment information (bank account, credit card or debit card). 
  5. Receive confirmation by email immediately. 
  6. View your payment schedule under “Bill Details”. 

Please note: There is no processing fee for payments from a bank account (electronic fund transfer). Processing fees apply for payments made by credit card (2.35%) and debit card (1.5%). Learn more about MyToronto Pay Payment Options & Fees. 

If you have submitted payments that are not reflected on your PTP program acceptance letter or do not appear in MyToronto Pay, contact a customer service representative immediately. 

If you cannot enrol for pre-authorized payment on MyToronto Pay, please follow the instructions on the 311 Pre-Authorized Tax Payment page or call 311. Outside of the City Limits, call 416-392-CITY (2489).

If you are enroled in the pre-authorized property tax payment program, you can change your payment information and/or your payment instalment plan by following these steps. 

Update payment method: 

  1. Sign in to MyToronto Pay.
  2. Choose “Manage Pre-Authorized Tax Payments”. 
  3. Choose “Update payment method”. 
  4. Enter new payment information (bank account, credit card or debit card). 
  5. Receive confirmation by email immediately 

Change Plan: 

  1. Sign in to MyToronto Pay.  
  2. Choose “Manage Pre-Authorized Tax Payments”. 
  3. Choose “Change Plan”. 
  4. Choose different instalment plan (2, 6 or 11 instalments) 
  5. Receive confirmation by email immediately 
  6. View new payment schedule under “Bill Details”. 

If you are new to MyToronto Pay, you will need to create a profile, connect a tax account using your property tax bill, and choose to transfer your enrolment to MyToronto Pay. It’s quick and easy! 

If you cannot change your payment method on MyToronto Pay, please follow the instructions on the 311 Pre-Authorized Tax Payment page or call 311. Outside of the City Limits, call 416-392-CITY (2489). 

If you are enroled in the pre-authorized tax payment program on MyToronto Pay, you can cancel your enrolment by following these steps. 

  1. Sign in to MyToronto Pay.
  2. Choose “Manage Pre-Authorized Property Tax Payments”. 
  3. Choose “Unenrol account”. 
  4. Receive confirmation by email immediately. 
  5. Pay any outstanding balance to avoid interest charges 

Once you cancel your enrolment into the program, you will be automatically returned to the regular instalment payment plan. View your “Bill Details” within MyToronto Pay as your due date(s) may change.  

If you are not enroled on MyToronto Pay, you can cancel your enrolment by following these steps. 

  1. Print and complete the cancellation form. 
  2. Submit the form to the address below at least 15 days before your next withdrawal date. 
  3. Once your request is processed you will receive notice by mail that you have been removed from the program. 
  4. Immediately pay any outstanding balance to avoid interest charges.

If you cannot reinstate your account online, follow the instructions below. PTP Reinstatement Fee is applicable if property tax account is reinstated to program within one year following the removal from the program. 

Banking Info is the Same 

If your banking information has not changed, submit your request to be reinstated to PTP by contacting a Customer Service Representative by phone or mail. A void cheque is not required if your banking information has not changed. 

New Banking Info 

If you have new banking information and you are requesting to be reinstated to PTP and cannot change your payment method on MyToronto Pay, please follow the instructions on the 311 Pre-Authorized PTP Payment page or call 311. Outside of the City Limits, call 416-392-CITY (2489). 

Charges

If any of your pre-authorized payments do not clear through your financial institution, the City will charge you an administrative fee and penalty/interest. You will also be automatically removed from the pre-authorized program and will have to reapply for the program.
