Demand Response Program

The City participates in the Independent Electricity Systems Operator Demand Response program, which pays participants to reduce electricity use at periods of peak demand. Participation in Demand Response provides the following benefits to the City:
- new revenue streams
- optimization of assets
- improved energy security and resilience
There are currently 22 City-owned sites participating in Demand Response, with an enrolled load of 5.41 MW. Since 2013, the City has generated more than $2 million in revenue through the program.
