The Community Healing Project

The Community Healing Project for crime prevention and intervention takes a trauma-informed and peer-based approach to addressing the impact of exposure to community violence on youth.

Community Peers Elevating and Extending Resources & Supports (Community P.E.E.R.S)

Community PEERS is a community-based, peer initiative that provides a variety of youth services to address the growing youth service needs and impacts as a result of community violence and community violence exposure.

The Toronto Youth Job Corps

Are you having a hard time getting a job or staying employed? Are you between the ages of 15 to 30 and out of work and out of school? If yes, the Toronto Youth Job Corps (TYJC)  program might be exactly what you need. This program is a full-time, 6 to 24 week paid employment preparation program for youth; especially those who are facing a difficult life situation or having a hard time getting a job.

Toronto Youth Partnerships & Employment (TYPE)

Toronto Youth Partnerships & Employment (TYPE) is a mobile intensive case management program supporting vulnerable youth (aged 16 to 29) in Toronto, who are facing multiple and complex barriers to finding employment. An Outreach Youth Counsellor will help you with life stabilization supports by developing an action plan and connecting you to relevant services, programs, and resources.

TYPE helps you move towards employability by identifying your skills and interests and working through the barriers that prevent you from reaching your immediate and long-term employment goals.

Youth in the TYPE program can access:

  • intensive, mobile, and youth directed support and service planning
  • support with job readiness and job preparation
  • connection to employment, education, and training programs

TYPE supports youth who identify as part of the following equity deserving groups:

  • Indigenous
  • Black
  • Newcomer
  • Person with Disabilities
  • 2SLGBTQ+
  • Experiencing Gender-Based Violence
  • Involvement with the Justice System

Youth Employment Partnerships (YEP)

YEP is a youth-friendly community organization network that offers coordinated support to young job seekers 15 to 29 years of age. YEP is flexible to connect you to the right service and through one-on-one support and mentorship help you develop skills and knowledge as well as identify and secure the right opportunities with career potential. YEP can also connect you with training, certification and education programs to prepare you for employment. ArtWorksTO

ArtWorksTO is an equity, diversity, and inclusion workforce development program for Indigenous, Black, Persons of Colour and/or 2SLGBTQ+ youth who are working towards careers as creative industries professionals.  ArtWorksTO was created in response to the need to create inclusive and representative career paths in creative industries for racialized youth.

ArtWorksTO is delivered in partnership with the Toronto Arts Foundation’s Neighbourhood Arts Network, the City of Toronto, OCAD University and the Remix Project.

Toronto Youth Cabinet

Established in 1998 by Toronto City Council, The Toronto Youth Cabinet is the official youth advocacy body to the City of Toronto. The Toronto Youth Cabinet (TYC) is a youth-led organization that promotes youth participation in civic affairs and policy development. TYC membership is open to youth between the ages of 13 and 24 who live, work, or learn in the City of Toronto.

Pam McConnell Award for Young Women in Leadership

Pam McConnell will be remembered as a tireless advocate for women’s rights and social justice in the City of Toronto. She was a member of Toronto City Council from 1994 (then Metro Toronto Council) to 2017 and was the former Chair of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Standing Committee on Increasing Women’s Participation in Municipal Government. She was the Champion for the City of Toronto’s Protégée Program, a mentorship program matching young women with City Councillors intending to increase women’s representation in electoral politics.

In remembrance of Pam McConnell, the Toronto Youth Cabinet (TYC) in collaboration with the Youth Development Unit is pleased to present the Pam McConnell Award for Young Women in Leadership, to recognize the exceptional leadership of young women in the City of Toronto.
