Background

The Mural Program helps local businesses and communities create an attractive and positive identity for their commercial areas. Funding of up to $5,000 is available for mural projects that demonstrate strong local involvement, community partnerships, and commitment to promoting economic development initiatives.

What is covered?

  • One-time only funding of up to $5,000 for murals in commercial or employment districts.
  • Eligible expenses include artist fees, materials, installation costs, and equipment rental.
  • The Program does not provide funding for murals with commercial content, maintenance of completed murals, insurance costs, permit fees, or costs related to securing the mural site.

Eligible organizations Include:

  • Business Improvement Areas (BIAs)
  • Business associations
  • Community groups that include strong business participation.

Successful projects will:

  • Contribute to community and business pride.
  • Promote a unique community theme.
  • Leverage partnerships (business contributions, grants, in-kind services, and volunteer resources are encouraged.)
  • Attract customers to commercial areas.
  • Provide benefits to the community, in terms of economic development, community development, youth and local arts involvement and others.
  • Involve and encourage businesses, residents and other community representatives to participate in the project.
