According to Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey data, over
1.26 million City of Toronto residents were employed in 2010.
Eighty-five percent of City residents work in service-producing
industries; however, the largest industry grouping is Professional,
Scientific and Technical Services, which roughly corresponds to
what was formerly known as Business Services and employs over
12 percent of the population. Financial Services, Retail Trade,
Manufacturing, Health Care, and Education are also large employers
of City residents.
