Scheduled Council & Committee Meetings on Hiatus
There are no meetings of City Council or committees reporting to it until the first meeting of the new Council following the October 25 election. The last regular meeting of City Council was held on August 25, 26 and 27, 2010.
Meetings of some special committees that do not report to Council and agencies, board and committees continue throughout the fall.
Traditionally Toronto City Council does not meet after Nomination Day, the last day that candidates can register for the election. This year, nomination day is Friday, September 10. City Council does not meet after this date in recognition that the election campaign is in full swing.
The first meeting of the new City Council is scheduled for Tuesday, December 7.
In the event of an emergency before December 7, a special meeting of City Council can be called on 24 hours notice. If a special meeting was to be called up to an including November 30, it would the outgoing Council Members who were called to the meeting. The new Mayor and Council do not take office until December 1, 2010.
