City Council Approves Changes to the 2011 Schedule of Meetings

City Council has approved amendments to the 2011 Schedule of Meetings to accommodate the recommended Service Review Program and 2012 Budget approval process.

At the April 12 and 13, 2011 meeting City Council adopted Item EX4.10 Service Review Program, 2012 Budget Process and Multi-Year Financial Planning Process that includes adjustments to the 2011 Schedule of Meetings plus added meetings in January and February of 2012. The adjustments to the meeting schedule are based on the recommended timelines for the Service Review Program and the approval process for the 2012 Capital and Operating Budgets.

All of these changes have been made to the online Meeting Schedule and are listed below for reference. All meetings are scheduled to start at 9:30am unless specified otherwise.

July 2011

Special committee meetings have been added to consider and hear public presentations on the findings from the Service Review:

• Public Works & Infrastructure Committee (Special) – July 18
• Economic Development Committee (Special)– July 19
• Community Development & Recreation Committee (Special) – July 20
• Parks & Environment Committee (Special) – July 21
• Licensing and Standards Committee (Special) – July 25
• Government Management Committee (Special) – July 26
• Planning and Growth Management Committee (Special) – July 27
• Executive Committee (Special) – July 28

September 2011

Special meetings of Executive Committee and City Council have been added to consider recommendations on the Service Review:

• Executive Committee (Special) – September 19
• City Council (Special) – September 26 & 27

To accommodate these added meetings the following September meetings have been rescheduled:

• Public Works and Infrastructure Committee from September 13 to September 7
• Planning and Growth Management Committee from September 14 to September 8
• Licensing and Standards Committee from September 15 to September 9
• Board of Health at 1:00 pm from September 19 to September 13
• Economic Development Committee from September 20 to September 14
• Community Development and Recreation Committee from September 15 to September 14
• Government Management Committee from September 16 to September 15
• Parks and Environment Committee from September 16 to September 15
• City Council (Regular) from September 26 & 27 to September 21 & 22

November 2011

In November 2011, Special meetings have been added for 2012 Rate Supported Budgets:

• Budget Committee (Special) - November 10
• Executive Committee (Special) - November 21

To accommodate these November additions, the following meetings have been rescheduled:

• Government Management Committee from November 10 to November 9
• Parks and Environment Committee from November 9 to November 22

The November 29 and 30 City Council meeting will include consideration of the 2012 Rate Supported Budgets.

December 2011

In late November and December 2011, meetings have been added to consider the 2012 Capital and Operating Budgets:

• 2012 Operating and Capital Budget Launch – November 28
• Budget Committee (reviews and hearings) – December 2, 5, 6, 7, 8
• Budget Committee (wrap-up) – December 9 and 13

January and February 2012

To accommodate the approval process for the 2012 Capital and Operating Budgets, regular and special meeting dates have been added for a January and February meeting cycle in 2012:

• Executive Committee (Regular) – January 3, 2012
• Public Works and Infrastructure Committee (Regular) – January 4, 2012
• Planning and Growth Management Committee (Regular) – January 5, 2012
• Budget Committee (Special: 2012 Final Wrap-up) – January 9, 2012
• Community Councils (Regular) – January 10, 2012
• Community Development and Recreation Committee (Regular) – January 11, 2012
• Executive Committee (Special: 2012 Budget Final Review) – January 12, 2012
• City Council (Special: 2012 Capital and Operating Budgets) – January 17 to 19, 2012
• Board of Health at 1:00 pm (Regular) – January 20, 2012
• Government Management Committee (Regular) – January 24, 2012
• Licensing and Standards Committee (Regular) – January 25, 2012
• Economic Development Committee (Regular) – January 26, 2012
• Parks and Environment Committee (Regular) – January 27, 2012
• City Council (Regular) – February 6 and 7, 2012

The Meeting Schedule for Council and its Committees is guided by Council's directions. These changes have been made to minimize the impact on the existing schedule and ensure that City Council can complete a full regular Committee/Council cycle in September, in addition to the special meeting to consider the Service Reviews.

All of these additions and changes are available online in the Meeting Schedule. The Meeting Schedule is updated in real-time as special meetings are called, or as committee or board meetings are rescheduled.

Later this year, the remainder of the 2012 Schedule of Meetings will be submitted by the City Clerk for City Council approval.
