* * Affordable Housing Repair Funding
The City of Toronto's Affordable Housing Office will soon issue two proposal calls soliciting applications for federal/provincial funding to repair and renovate apartment buildings and rooming houses.
Toronto Renovates for Homeowners

The City of Toronto's Affordable Housing Office will soon make available assessment forms for lower-income homeowners seeking federal/provincial funding for essential health and safety repairs. A limited amount of funding will be available only for eligible seniors and disabled persons whose homes have an assessed value of $514,000 or less and who also meet income thresholds.

Essential repairs and modifications that enable seniors and persons with disabilities to live independently will be eligible for funding, including:

  • Ramps and chairlifts
  • Furnace upgrades
  • Electrical safety upgrades
  • Roofing and foundation repairs

Aid for low-income homeowners
Low-income homeowners seeking assistance for health and safety repairs can access a variety of government, non-profit and private sector programs. The City of Toronto has produced a brochure with information about these programs.
Who does what: Poverty, housing and homelessness
A number of City Divisions offer assistance for residents coping with poverty, inadequate or unaffordable housing and homelessness. More information can be found in this handy list.
