Mosquito surveillance and control activities have ended for the 2012 season. Toronto Public Health began its 2012 West Nile Virus activities in May. For an overview of TPH's current WNV season which is based on human case and mosquito surveillance data, please go to Status of WNV.
In 2011, Toronto Public Health reported 76 positive mosquito batches and 28 human cases of illness reported due to the virus.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care reported 71 human cases in Ontario.
