 Subject:Variance to the Etobicoke Sign By-law - 2182 Islington Avenue

 Purpose:

 To advise Etobicoke Community Council of the decision of the Sign Variance Advisory Committee.

 Funding Sources, Financial Implications and Impact Statement:

 None.

 Recommendation:

 That the recommendation of the Etobicoke Sign Variance Advisory Committee be received for information.

 Comments:

 At its meeting held on Tuesday, April 28, 1998, the Sign Variance Advisory Committee had for consideration an application by Urban Outdoor Trans Ad for variances to the Sign By-law in order to install a standard outdoor advertising ground sign on a railway right-of-way adjacent to 2182 Islington Avenue. The Committee also had for consideration the attached staff report dated April 28, 1998, recommending refusal of the variances.

 The Sign Variance Advisory Committee concurred in the staff recommendation and approved as follows:

 THAT an application by Urban Outdoor Trans Ad for variance to the Sign By-law to permit the installation of a Standard Outdoor Advertising (third party) ground sign on a railway right-of-way at 2182 Islington Avenue, facing a residential area, be refused.
